Weave Radio

Privacy

Weave Player, Weave FM and Weave Radio are one application with three names, made and sold by Epiphani Studios LLC. We don't collect your films, shows or music, we don't sell your information, and we don't run ads. This page explains what stays in your folders, what your Epiphani account holds when you sign in, and how to reach us.

Your library

The Mac app indexes the folders you choose, where they already sit, and serves them to the other devices in your home (Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV) over your own network. Those devices find the Mac with Bonjour, Apple's way for devices on one network to find each other. We don't collect your films, shows or music. Your files stay in your own folders, in the formats and names you chose.

To fill in posters, years, cast, episode details, schedules, album details and covers, the Mac app looks titles up with four services: TMDB (The Movie Database) for films and television, TVmaze for episode schedules, MusicBrainz for music, and the Cover Art Archive for album covers. A lookup sends the title, year, episode number, artist or album that the app read from the file's name or tags.

On a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on, an Apple model running on that Mac may read a hard-to-parse file name and suggest the title. The suggestion still has to match a TMDB result before it is used.

On the Mac, Weave keeps its own logs in the Logs folder of your Mac's Library and remembers which channels you open most so it can keep those ready. At home, your phone talks to the Mac directly over your network. When you control a Mac from your phone away from home, each command passes through our relay sealed with your pairing key. The relay passes the sealed message along without the key to open it.

Your Epiphani account

Signing in to an Epiphani account at account.epiphani.com lets your devices share Weave's settings and activity. A device reads the account's data with a token created when you sign in to that account. For Weave, the Epiphani account holds:

  • Your email address and the purchases attached to it.
  • The shows you follow and the episodes you have marked seen.
  • How many seconds you watched each title on each streaming channel, by day.
  • The order of your channels and a few small settings, such as the color of the play mark.
  • For each Mac signed in, its name, its addresses on your home network, its security certificate fingerprint and a pairing secret, so a phone or iPad signed in to the same account can pair with it as a remote without typing a code.

Streaming sign-ins

Weave on the Mac saves your streaming sign-ins to your Epiphani account by default. A sign-in here means the session each streaming service keeps in its tile to remember you are signed in (its cookies, plus the tokens some services keep in the tile's storage). The Mac saves them about one minute after Weave opens, about 30 seconds after you sign in to a service, and every three hours. Your other Macs signed in to the same Epiphani account pick them up automatically with nothing to type.

With this default setting, the saved sign-ins are sealed with a key that travels with them, so our account service can read them. We chose this so your signed-in devices can use those saved sign-ins automatically.

A device that is already signed in to a service keeps its own sign-in, and a saved copy fills in the services that device is signed out of. In Weave's Settings, under Advanced, Lock with a code seals the saved sign-ins with a 10-character code instead. Each new device asks for the code once, and the account holds a copy it has no key to open.

Streaming services and Dropbox

Each streaming service you add in Channels opens that company's own website inside its own separate tile, with its own storage. What you do inside a service's tile is between you and that company, under its own privacy policy.

If you add a Dropbox folder, Dropbox asks you to approve access on its own page, and Weave keeps that approval in your Mac's keychain and reads the folder you chose.

Purchases

Purchases on these websites go through Polar Software, Inc., our online reseller and merchant of record. Polar handles your payment details, and card numbers go to Polar and its payment processors, never to us. Polar tells us the email address used at checkout and what was bought, and the purchase is attached to the Epiphani account with that email address. Polar's Buyer Terms apply to the purchase.

A purchase in the App Store is handled by Apple. The app checks with Apple, on the device, that the household purchase is verified, and Family Sharing shares it with your family group. A refunded purchase ends the unlock it gave.

Website counts

These websites set no cookies and carry no advertising network. They count how many times a page is opened and how many times a button such as the buy button is pressed. Each count records the name of the event, which of the three sites it came from, and the day, with nothing about the person. The counts are deleted automatically after 400 days.

Feedback and diagnostics

On iPhone and iPad, you can choose Settings > Help & Feedback > Send Feedback to send us a report. Taking a screenshot or shaking the device inside Weave also offers to send a report. A report carries what you write, a contact address if you add one, the screenshot if you attach it, the app version, the device model and the iOS version. The report is sent when you send it.

Where an app offers Share diagnostics, the report opens in your device's share sheet and goes wherever you send it, with links, email addresses, file paths and names replaced by placeholders. We use what you send to fix problems and answer you.

Your choices and contact

We don't sell your information and we don't run ads. To stop saving streaming sign-ins to your Epiphani account, sign the Mac out of the Epiphani account. To keep saving your streaming sign-ins while sealing the saved copy with your own code, turn on Lock with a code.

To delete your Epiphani account and what it holds, or to ask a privacy question or make a request, email hello@epiphani.com. When this page changes, we update it and the date at the top.
